Rules governing the archive system
- The content contained in the sidebar and frontpage files are altered year to year as needed to reflect the current course.
- Their names cannot change because these are essentially PB Works "system" files.
The system will always display these two files by default whenever users visit http://missions4evomc.pbworks.com/
- The sidebar has links to the archived "sidebar20xx" files, and also a link to the current 'frontpage' file
- The previous sidebar and frontpage files are backed up year to year and renamed by appending the year to their filenames
- A note in red is placed at the top of these files clearly indicating that users are looking at the archive for the given year
- The other files for that year are not renamed (they already have the year appended to their filenames). This way, links between the files will continue to work
- But a note in red is placed at the top of these files clearly indicating that users are looking at the archive for the given year
When using the current year set of files, it should be noted if any files point to sidebar or frontpage. These links would have to be altered in the archived files so that they would point to the correct sidebar or frontpage files for that year.
When using the set of files for an archived year, a note in red should appear at the top indicating the year for that archived set.
If any links point outside the archived set, users can navigate back into the year they are exploring through the link to that year in the current sidebar.
