Record of Badges Earned and evidence provided toward awarding those badges

 

This is how we set up a system for awarding badges, called the EVO Minecraft MOOC Survivor's Badge, in 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018

The theory was as follows:

• We divided the session into over a dozen "missions", each with a task, instructions on how to complete the task, and a means of verifying completion
  (either we could see from our records that it was done, or the participant created and posted a link, or a screenshot with its link.)
• Participants signed on to a Google Sheet shared for editing with all bona fide participants who requested access, and for viewing by anyone with the link.
• We established clear criteria for earning a badge.
• To earn a badge in Minecraft you needed to accomplish at least 5 course missions
• On  the spreadsheets (see the examples below) we asked participants to write their names in column A and indicate their missions accomplished in the remaining columns.
• We gave participants a clear deadline for completing this
• We pointed out that for badges to have credibility, anyone should be able to visit the open access document and see evidence of performance, so please provide LINKS and DATES where possible.

In order to receive a badge you need to provide evidence of the required number of missions accomplished. To do this,

1. FIRST enroll in the session by filling in the form at https://tinyurl.com/evomc19-register 

2. AFTER THAT you visit https://tinyurl.com/evomc19-badgetrack and ask to JOIN the sheet for editing access (you will have to have a Google acct in order to that that. If you have enrolled (Step 1) your request will be granted.

3. As you accomplish your missions, fill in details with links or dates of your evidence.
