Create a post at one of these spaces to tell us who you are and what brings you to Minecraft
How you can verify this mission accomplished
We will see your introduction in one of our community spaces below
*NOTE
We tend to reject applications with profiles that suggest that the person applying is (1) not representing his or her real identity, and (2) is not connected in some way with education. When we can see enough of the profile to determine that one or both of those is not the case we accept the application; otherwise we might ignore or reject it.
The majority in our group appear comfortable with FB. Vance thinks that groups.io can help us be more inclusive IN ADDITION to FB.
Meanwhile, the EVO Minecraft MOOC team have been working behind the scenes to create Google Classroom and Google Group spaces to eventually replace our G+C., now defunct (though you can find links to blogged archives in the sidebar).
This obviously needs our team to reach consensus by mid-Nov on what sites our moderators are willing to monitor.
This registers you in our session and allows us to whitelist you on our Minecraft server
What should you be doing?
Assemble the following information
Your real name and where you’re from
Please provide a link to one of your web or social media profiles, or to your introduction to our community in one of our networks; e.g. Groups.io from step 1
Your Minecraft player name (known or intended) You'll need to obtain a valid Minecraft user namein order for us to whitelist you on our MC server
Your level of experience with Minecraft (ranging from “noob” to expert)
A link to where you will track your learning journey (e.g. a wiki, blog, or ePortfolio)
I'm willing to forego this (Vance). We have had reduced to negligible interest in badges since the interest shown in 2015 and 2016. Olivetree has expressed interest (and the need) for having some kind of certificate. If someone can take this on, you can revise Mission 4. Otherwise we could delete it.
Why?
This gets you into the system whereby we can award your badges based on information you supply here.
For example, you can fill in information here leading to the awarding of the Minecraft Survivor's Badge.
This sheet acts as the “evidence” for your accomplishments in the course toward attaining goals set forth for the awarding of the badge.
When you receive your badge, the evidence makes possible that ...
Anyone can see and verify how they have completed the set criteria
Anyone clicking on a Credly awarded badge can be hyperlinked to this document giving evidence for what you did that led to the awarding of the badge, thus giving the badge its credibility.
What should you be doing?
You need to join the sheet so that you can enter your missions accomplished at https://tinyurl.com/evomc19-badgetrack<<2020 Do we need a evomc20 - badgetrack>>
but you won't be accepted to write to this form until you have registered on our Google form in Mission 2
We'll see your entry in the list of writers on the Google sheet
Mission 4 should be deleted or revised - it ends here
Mission 5 - Join us in Minecraft
Once we have you registered we can white list you on our server.
Why?
This is the practice part of a student's practicing and reflecting
What should you be doing?
Purchase your login to Minecraft from Mojang http://minecraft.net All software downloads including server software and client software multiple devices are free; you pay around $30 for your unique login credential (to Mojang, not to us, we can only use emeralds and diamonds which we get by trading with villagers in Minecraft)
You can create an account if you wish. If you do this you will have a better tool set for tracking your poll and receiving notices when someone has altered it. But logon is optional when creating or participating in Doodle polls. Anyone can do it.
Create a poll that people will be able to see easily by limiting the day/time range and number of options they can vote on (you'll see once you've done it)
Be sure to "use time zone for this poll" - This is what the poll looks like at the bottom of the page before you send it: https://www.screencast.com/t/TsIWUdoURTQ
Once you "use time zone for this poll" people will be able to see the poll in THEIR time zone, and then at the bottom of your page, you see https://www.screencast.com/t/DIQmpknzXE
Once you've created your poll, you'll get a link to it. Share the link on your social network.
We need to verify that these steps are still valid for 2020; might need revised screenshots
Stick with us - this could be you
Mission 7 - Reflect on your activities for Weeks 1-2
Do some background reading (see below)
Attend our live sessions
Join us in the game
Why?
On the theory that a student practices and reflects, whereas a teacher practices and demonstrates, we ask you to surpass your role as 'teacher' and do all four!; see slide 22 from
of our previous live events available through the archive links in the sidebar at right ------------>
How can you do this?
Start a blog or any kind of ePortfolio where you will share your learning journey and provide a link to it in the Google form - If you need help with this please ask
Create a post giving some reflection of your reading and impressions of the session so far
Post the link to your post on Twitter and/or Facebook, or in any of our social spaces, and tag it #evomc20
