How to join us in Minecraft

  1. Purchase your login to Minecraft JAVA EDITION from Mojang http://minecraft.net
Be sure and get the JAVA version of the software.

    With your login credentials, all logins plus software downloads including server software and client software for multiple devices are free;
you pay around $30 for your unique login credential
  2. Register with EVO Minecraft MOOC by filling in the Google form here
    https://forms.gle/zE1D5JPBHtuVPaUF7

Here you need to tell us your Minecraft user name so we can whitelist you on our server
At the bottom of the form, have Google send you a copy of you. response.

This will have Google send you an email, and in that email there is a button where you can easily EDIT your response in case you want to add details later, such as a Minecraft user name or a Discord ID number.

  3. Once we've whitelisted you, you can create a profile in Minecraft for build 1.12.2 and drop by our EVOMC20 server at this address mc.evomc.net
    For detailed instructions, see http://missions4evomc.pbworks.com/2020_Server_Info
We also have access to a 1.14.3 server which Dakota Redstone, its host, has called at various times Aquatic or Hinderval University.
    Find out more at 2020_Server_Info.
  4. Once you're in Minecraft we can text chat (press t in Minecraft to activate the text chat feature)
  5. If you want to speak to us in voice, activate Discord by following these instructions
    http://missions4evomc.pbworks.com/2020_Discord

Need help? Need a back channel?

Try YoTeach! to ask backchannel questions

Use the password evomc20 but don't tell anybody; it's a secret password ;-)

What is Yo!Teach!

It's a backchannel chat tool that Vance found to replace Today's Meet, which I used to use for passing messages to and from classes and other gatherings. Today's Meet died at some point last year.

I learned about Yo!Teach here

http://newsmanager.commpartners.com/tesolcallis/issues/2019-08-26/3.html

Yo!Teach is also listed at this website

https://www.commonsense.org/education/articles/5-online-discussion-tools-to-fuel-student-engagement

When we meet online, we will try to ensure that someone monitors Yo!Teach. Then if you are having a problem, you can post a message in Yo!Teach and, maybe, there will be someone at the other end who can help.  If there is no one there you can at least leave your message and if you leave a name or contact we'll get back to you at some point.

The idea is to use it concurrently with live events
